Following the breaking news that Condé Nast/Fairchild Fashion Media announced the acquisition of Fashion Networks International, which is best known for Nowmanifest today’s news announced the exit of editor-in-chief Kirstie Clements from Vogue Australia.
NewsLifeMedia executive Nicole Sheffield announced to the media today that Edwina McCann, formerly of rival publication Harper’s Bazaar will take over the role.
Clements was one of three seniors within News Magazines to be axed including Mark Kelly (Lifestyle group editor) and Richard Waller (Inside Out Magazine).
Says McCann of her new appointment “I started my career at Vogue and I am very excited about returning to work for the world’s most powerful fashion media brand. The opportunities for this formidable brand online and in a social media landscape are endless and our future is very bright indeed.”

I think that in recent years Harper’s Bazaar have lead the way leaving Vogue far behind and looking a little rather stale. A shame it had to be Edwina McCann to leave as along with Claudia and Christine, they were doing such a great job at HB. I do wonder who will replace Edwina though and if HB can remain a frontrunner now that Vogue has snared her.
