How To Wear The Metallic Shoe Trend

Whilst we’re only in the beginnings of winter, it doesn’t take long to tire from your typical winter outfit combinations. The endless layers of black, that practical (yet slightly boring) trench coat, the dependable weekend jeans and jumper combos…

And that’s ok – afterall, we can’t look like we stepped off a runway everyday (and nor could many of us be bothered!)

It’s not even July, but I am already starting to look around for easy ways to give my existing winter wardrobe a jolt of energy without splashing out on a huge new stash.

I pose the question: with grey being such an essential colour this winter (read here), and with our desire to be comfortable yet chic, what better way is there to riff on a trend, AND add a little edge to your look? The answer: The Silver Shoe. (And I’m not talking heels for a special night out, I am talking flats. Everyday shoes.) The silver shoe solves many winter wardrobe problems and wants in one foul swoop.

Consider:

• Swapping out your trusty black ankle boots for a pewter version to pare with jeans and leggings
• Upping the ante on a plain pointed flat with a bright shiny silver version instead (fun for work or play – staying classy!)
• Elevating your weekend look (literally) with a quirky silver flat-form 
• Investing in a pair of silver brogues, loafers or moccasins to wear as a stylish alternative all year round with just about everything.
