A homage to modern day bohemians and aristocrats, Shona Joy’s ‘Sound of Light’
draws inspiration from snaps of Slim Aaron’s ‘La Dolce Vita‘.
With that in mind, images of glamorous women of the sixties and early seventies are conjured up living it up all over the world.
What collection from Shona Joy would be complete without some serious prints, and this collection takes a graphic interpretation of the emergence of spring, as rain and storms give way to the first spring blossom.
While the collection may draw from inspirations like vintage art deco wallpapers, the collection is decidedly modern and fresh and this is partly due to the tailoring and silhouette but mostly thanks to the amazing, super fresh colour palette which features pops of acid neon and lime against calmer neutrals and pastels.
There is something of Jane Birkin in this collection, young, wild and carefree with gigantic and sexy flowing hair, short skirts and billowing sleeves, running along the beaches of Saint Tropez. Wide leg pant suits and cutouts only add to the seventies sensibilities, that make you feel like backing your trunks and swanning off to some exotic location to lounge poolside.
