Review: Cetaphil DailyAdvance Ultra Hydrating Lotion

I can’t say that I’ve always been a fan of Cetaphil. I requested some samples of their skincare line, back when I was sixteen, with highly oily and sensitive skin. Unfortunately, within days of use, my skin broke out in mass amounts of angry red pimples. Was I scarred? Yes, I certainly was. But when I saw this product emblazoned with ‘NEW’ and ‘NON-COMEDOGENIC’, with no mineral oil in the ingredients list I was sold. And I thought, why not take a skincare bullet for the BWA-ers, as after all, I’m a beauty product junkie. I am ecstatic to say that I have not regretted it for a second.

PACKAGING

Screams ‘no frills’ and ‘practical’. It’s a nice, sturdy plastic tube with a flip top lid. I think the opening of the tube is little too big though, as product tends to ooze out when I open it, leaving it messy. I love that there is an ingredients list printed on the bottle. Too many companies have ingredients lists only on the outer packaging – who seriously rummages through the rubbish bin to check the list? The packaging is recyclable – extra brownie points, woot!

PRODUCT AND APPLICATION

This product is a smooth lotion that is intensely moisturizing yet non-irritating to my acne-prone combination skin. It’s soothing formula quickly absorbs quickly into my skin, leaving no greasy residue. The formula is free from mineral oil and isopropyl palmitate and my skin simply loves it, as it doesn’t cause congestion, particularly in my oily T-zone. I’m also a huge fan of that fact that it’s fragrance-free. I strongly dislike fragranced facial creams – to me, it’s unnecessary, sneeze-inducing and plain annoying. This Cetaphil product is perfect for dry to very dry skin, and though it doesn’t stipulate the use of this product for the face, it’s ‘suitable for use on babies’. The latter says it all.

OVERALL VERDICT

A skincare winner! It’s cheap as chips, and does an incredible job at hydration.

PRICE: $9.49 for 85g from Priceline, pharmacies or online.

RATING: 5/5

PURCHASE AGAIN? I am about to dash off to the supermarket as I type! Bye!

Sounds interesting, what are the ingredients? I’ll take a look at their website. I’m also a fan of non-fragranced items, perfumes themselves consist of 200-400 ingredients on average and most of them unnatural. Natural products have a natural fragrance anyway so I hate it when they add perfumes to them.

I’ve been a long term user (over 10 years now) of the Cetaphil cleanser, I highly recommend it for those with sensitive and/or dry skin types. I’ve hummed and harred over trying this lotion and I think you’ve just given me the kick up the bum to give it a go! Thanks x
