Outfit Post: Field Trip

There is nothing I love more than a stroll around Sydney’s Botanical Gardens, and I’m lucky to have this amazing city oasis right on my doorstep. It often think of it as an extension of my own backyard!

Rarely a week goes by where I’m not sweating my way though the paths on a power walk, taking a scenic short-cut across town, or simply going for a therapeutic stroll (brainstorming for BWA most probably.)

Given the gardens are my “habitit” if you will, I figured it was a fitting place to shoot an outfit post. 94% humidity aside, my main battle for shooting this outfit was trying to narrow down a suitable location. Beautiful photo opportunities abounded, with picturesque nooks at every turn. This partly explains why there are so many photos!

I took a detour through the cactus garden, which I’m particularly fond of. There’s something pre-historic and sculptural about cactus and this garden-within-a-garden is always worth a visit.

Having a Bindi Irwin-inspired moment getting in touch with nature!

About the outfit: I have pretty much LIVED in this exact outfit for the past couple of weeks. This is the way I dress on a daily basis when I am just running from A-B, or on the weekend. As you can see, it’s pretty casual.

I’m big into shorts, but to be honest this is the first collared shirt I have bought in MANY YEARS. The trick to wearing them casually (and comfortably) is to buy looser fits that don’t cling over the bust. I’m planning to swap my t-shirts for shirts as much as possible, and naturally I’ll wear them with everything from shorts to jeans, my favourite leather pants, leggings – you name it!

Khaki and white linen go hand in hand. I love the texture of both, especially worn together. In an inadvertent nature theme, I always wear these leopard print sandals with this outfit, they are cute and super comfortable.

This whole outfit (shirt, shorts and shoes) cost me a total of $69.95. I’ll be honest, I do have some ethical gripes with fast fashion, but at times it’s a real saviour.

Thank you ladies! Appreciate your feedback! It was a blistering hot morning, I started shooting at 7:30am and it was so hot I could barely stand it out in the sun! … xx

Shirts with collars always look a tad smarter than t-shirts.
