MBFWA 2013: Roopa Pemmaraju

Roopa Pemmaraju for Spring Summer 2013/14 showed at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia with a collaborative mix of fashion and art that showcases authentic textile designs imagined by renowned australian female indigenous artists from the Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation.

Pemmaraju has risen to prominence in the last few years, particularly for her celebration of her indigenous heritage and focus on celebrating the art and textile prints of Australian Aboriginies.

This collection was particularly vibrant, and had a casual, feminine quality to it. The effortlessness was evident in cut and fabric choice, making these the perfect summer dresses to pop on and breeze out to lunch.

The aesthetic was both fashion forward yet classic, with demure hemlines and necklines but the prints and the tailoring had a fluidity that spoke of something more whimsical.

Check out the collection for yourselves below!
