Ever wondered why your favourite celebrity’s gorgeous shade of coral lipstick looks like a hot orange mess on you?
The answer lies in your skin tone. Whether you’re fair or dark, warm or cold-toned, the lipstick shade you find to look amazing in its tube can end up looking completely different on the canvas you paint it across.
First Up: Are you warm or cold?
For the uninformed, honing down the right shade of lipstick starts with finding the right undertone of your complexion. Your skin tone can darken or lighten across the year but your undertone will always stay the same.
- Warm skin tones will have a yellow tinge to them
- Cold skin tones give off pink hues.
If you’re still not sure, check the colour of the veins on the underside of you wrist. Blue-tinted veins point to cool undertones and green suggests a warm undertone.
If you’re a warm girl, then surprise, surprise warm lipstick shades are for you. You need corals, brick reds and warm pinks in your life – stat!
