Sarah Stavrow greets us at the door of her Darlinghurst apartment with a beautiful bold red lip, sparkling Prada earrings and a crisp white Watson X Watson dress. Effervescent and bubbly, she is every part the blonde bombshell inside and out, but you would be remiss to let this distract you from the hard working and savvy business woman that she is.
Originally from a small country town, Sarah moved to the big city with aspirations of working in fashion- and came up against the barriers that most young people looking to break into the industry. Having become frustrated with Marketing and PR courses that did not specialize in fashion, Sarah struck out on her own and soaked up as much experience as she could from learning on the job.
Sarah quickly carved out a successful path for herself in the Fashion PR industry, and has worked for many high profile clients including: Bonds, Seafolly, General Pants, Country Road, Berlei, Ella Bache, Sunsilk and Miss Louise.
It is only natural that this big hearted fashion gal would then realize her desire to share her knowledge and industry experience with those just starting out, and thus, her brain child The Fashion Institute was born.
It is hard not to love Sarah instantly, as she excitedly and very openly chats to us of her love life, her dreams, and her plans for the business. As we take a tour around Sarah’s immaculately styled apartment, beautiful vintage pieces leap out at us and the fresh scent of flowers wafts through the air. A detour into her walk in closet has me breathless, as rows of YSL, Prada and Louboutin shoes stand at attention and what seems like the entire Watson X Watson collection dangles enticingly from above.
Sarah fills us in more on The Fashion Institute as we snap away at her designer duds. The college was founded with the intention of giving young people looking to break into the industry the necessary and relevant skill sets to succeed. Internships are mandatory, and classes can be taken at leisure to fit around working and interning. Sarah has also secured some of the most successful names in PR, Buying, Journalism, Digital Media, Styling and Marketing to impart their wisdom on the The Fashion Institute students.
Relaxing in the sun soaked apartment, the hours flew by and time was that we had to go. I left imparted with Sarah’s positive, bubbly outlook on life and some amazing tips on where to shop beautiful furniture. Needless to say the day was a success!
Check out some snaps from Sarah’s absolutely stunning apartment below.
