Karlie Kloss is coding, Gucci’s AW15 show in Milan was a celebration of all things geeky and Kendall Jenner has been spotted pairing glasses with a turtleneck… ‘geek chic’ is in and it’s time to indulge your inner nerd!
In between Tommy Hilfiger going tropical and the 70’s influence making it’s mark again this season, Gucci created the ultimate incarnation of modern ‘geek chic’, expertly combining pleats, high necklines and low hemlines with elements of surprise; sheer fabrics, metallics and fur.
With tailored jackets, pussy bows, knitted vests and flat soles the Gucci show was a testament to British charm and androgynous tailoring.
MORE – TRENDING: POWER DRESSING
The geek has been a celebrated character throughout fashion history, we see this trend pop up time and time again. She is tailored, tidy and best of all, mysterious. Her mystery is what serves the geek best.
Wear your hair neat and maximise the collared shirts in your wardrobe by buttoning them all the way up. Team your shirt with a pair of well-tailored pants, and add a bookish clutch if you’ve got one! Don’t be afraid to let the private school girl out, like our favourite geek, Miroslava Duma demonstrates so well.
SO – abandon those contact lenses and break out the rimmed glasses…….
Or go full girl-boss and get inspired by J.Crew’s Creative Director, Jenna Lyons:
Whichever you prefer, don’t be afraid to embrace the nerd this season!
So are you keen to try the geek chic look this season? Let us know in the comments below!

I don’t know about pussy bows (I’ve never been convinced), but this is a practical look for those people asking about new mum fashion. I found that when my kids were really little, trousers were better than skirts because they were good for work but also practical for all those times you find yourself on the floor. (Sometimes inadvertently because you’ve tripped on a toy…)
Thanks BellaB! Hopefully new mum’s find the article 🙂 Whilst I don’t have kids, I can’t imagine trying to run after them in skirts and dresses! I’d probably be in all day gym-gear! 🙂
