Trending: Power Dressing

Once associated with oversized shoulder pads, red suits and 90’s Hillary Clinton, modern day power dressing is back (though it’s a lot more nuanced than the first time around – thank god!)

In 2015 this style is all about enhancing feminine strength and confidence. For some, that means high powered sex appeal via structured blazers, killer heels and sophisticated makeup. For others, power is all about a certain invisibility or quiet confidence: a pared-back aesthetic of lean lines and monochromatic neutrals, everything devoid of primp and fuss.

Whichever way you look at it, power dressing remains the style for woman on top. According to Who What Wear’s co-founder Katherine Power (yes, that’s her real name) “there’s no need to actually be in a position of power to dress powerfully. Power dressing is for anyone who wishes to display confidence, appropriateness, and professionalism.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!
