1. Chanel sells online for the first time

Despite being one of the most coveted labels in the world, Chanel has resisted the urge to sell online… until now. The iconic brand will finally join the modern era by launching it’s much-anticipated e-commerce business next year, according to Chanel president Bruno Pavlovsky.

Earlier this month, Chanel commenced a collaboration with Net-a-Porter to sell a capsule jewellery collection online for the first time. The jewellery collection is called Coco Crush and features a cuff in 18-karat white and yellow gold and five rings. The luxurious collection will only be available for a limited time, from April 15th to May 6th.

Needless to say, we can’t wait to see what the creative team at Chanel.com dare to disrupt in the online shopping space when the new website is unveiled next year.

2. Liya Kebede is the first model of colour to be on the cover of Vogue Paris in five years

In her second cover for Vogue Paris in 13 years, 39 year old Ethiopian-born model Liya Kebede stuns in a Dior jumpsuit and modernist boots for the retro-inspired May cover. Captured by legendary photographic duo  Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, Kebede is the first woman of colour to appear on the magazine’s cover in 5 years.

The designer and actress has appeared on the cover of US Vogue three times, which by contrast, calls into question the lack of editorial diversity apparent at Vogue Paris.  In 2007, Forbes labelled her as the 11th highest paid top model in the world. To add to her impressive CV, Kebede became the WHO Goodwill Ambassador for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health in 2005.

Now a mum and an ambassador for Coca-Cola Life, 27-year-old Australian model Gemma Ward has made a comeback! Walking for Ellery, which opened the 20th anniversary of Australian Fashion Week, the gorgeous Aussie began her modelling career at 14 and was the youngest model to front the cover of American Vogue at 16.

Forbes labelled Ward as 10th in the list of the World’s 15 Top-Earning Supermodels in 2007. She was known to be Heath Ledger’s girlfriend and has acted in various films, such as a mermaid in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides in 2011.
