The most fashionable villages of Sydney are set to prove their style credentials this month with Fashion in the Villages – showcasing shops in Surry Hills, Darlinghurst, Paddington, Potts Point, Pyrmont and Newtown.
A series of in-store events, promotional offers and VIP services will be offered to entice shoppers to get out and about within their local communities over the weekend of 20-21st September. The idea is to encourage locals to support the retailers close to home and to treat themselves to new season Spring wardrobes.
A who’s who of fashionable retailers are on board with Becker Minty, Banjo & Matilda, Zimmerman, Arida, The Standard Store, Gorman, Jack London and Wheels & Dollbaby just a handful of the participants involved. They’ll be showcasing what bricks and mortar retailers have to offer, such as unique product offerings, point of difference and personal service.
“The City’s villages continue to be strong focal points for community life, and Fashion in the Villages has been conceived to give their fashion retailers a boost in the age of online sales and mega malls,” Lord Mayor Clover Moore
Fashion in the Villages is curated by MBFWA co-founder Lorraine Lock, who says “Fashion in the Villages is a weekend celebration of all things fashion in the inner-city suburbs, which are the most exciting places to shop. You can find high fashion, street style, emerging and established designers in the villages, which all have a distinct vibe. Stores will be showcasing their new summer collections, offering special deals and giving customers the chance to win fabulous prizes. And the celebration is not limited to boutiques with bakeries, bike shops and books stores in the mix.”
September is the City of Sydney’s, SYDNEY IS FASHION month with Vogue Fashion’s Night Out and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival also on the calendar. For more details check out the website and blog.
