What Your Eye Colour Says About You (And Who You’re Attracted To)

what your eye colour says about you

Eyes are one of the first things we notice about another person, and there’s much more to eye colour than simple genetic pigmentation.

While we often regard our eyes as the “windows to the soul”, they can also reveal a lot about your personality and your health. Most interestingly however, is the fact that eye colour can also determine who you’re most attracted to.

If you’re wondering how eye colour might affect who you’re naturally drawn to, read on.

It’s common to see people in couples that share a few physical traits, but the reason why we may be attracted to people with a certain eye colour comes from a surprising source.

According to a paper published by Lisa DeBruine and her colleagues at the University of Glasgow, people tend to prefer romantic partners whose eye colour matches that of their parents!

To demonstrate how eye colour affects one’s attraction to another, the research team recruited 300 men and women and made records of their eye colour, as well as their parents’ and lovers’ eye colour. The eye colours were then categorised into light (covering blue, green, blue-green, grey and hazel) and dark (covering light brown, dark brown and black).

The researchers found that overall, heterosexual women and homosexual men were twice as likely to have a lover with similar eye colour to their father’s, while homosexual women and heterosexual men were more likely to have a lover matching their mother’s eye colour.

Interesting.

According to another study by FastLife.com, in general, the eyes are what many people describe to be the most important facial feature in a potential partner. The survey stated that the majority of male and female participants found blue to be the most attractive eye colour. Other than blue, they found men preferred women with green eyes over brown, whereas women were more attracted to brown eyes over green in men.

While it’s true that there can be many subliminal non-deliberate reasons behind why you may be attracted to a certain physical quality, beauty is of course totally subjective.

If you’ve always wondered how you might look with a different eye colour, or you’d like to see how new colour might change how people perceive you, then coloured contact lenses are a fun way to do it.

These days, coloured contact lenses are inexpensive and available in many realistic colours for every day wear. And the good news is, you don’t need a trip to the optometrist to get them.

A good quality, affordable choice is the Freshlook One Day pack. This is one of the most popular coloured contact lense brands on the market, and they’re not expensive. Check out VisionDirect.com.au for a large range of coloured contacts at affordable prices.
