We Love: Balenciaga Resort 2014

Alexander Wang has clearly made an impact on Balenciaga despite this only being his second collection for the international fashion house.

Wang is all about forward thinking, and this is particularly evident in his showcasing of Resort 2014, in a lookbook with rearview access- because more often than not lookbooks fail to show the beautiful nuances of pieces that designers put so much time and effort into.

Drawing inspiration from the Crisótbal Balenciaga archives from Getaria, Spain, the collection is a beautiful lovechild of Wang’s modern aesthetic and the drama of Balenciaga from seasons past. Think capri length suits for strolling through the sunny streets of the French Riviera, unexpected silhouettes in drop-waisted dresses, interesting drapery in jackets and tops. A series of pieces engineered to move seamlessly from dress or crop top to cape add a sleek sophistication to the collection.

Wang has cleverly invested in showcasing the detail of his beautiful designs- a stroke of foresight that speaks volumes of what’s to come.
