3. If you’re not ready to set your personal style in stone, then at least make a firm mental note of the items you LOVE to wear
We all have items in our wardrobes that “spark joy” as de-cluttering expert Marie Kondo states it, and most of us have dozens (hundreds?) of items that spark absolutely no joy at all.
If you put an item on and it makes you feel blah there is no point to keep wearing it (unless it’s a work uniform!) Even on small budgets we have the luxury to choose items that represent our preferred aesthetic.
Wearing joyless garments day after day is enough to get anybody down on their wardrobe – and themselves. Focus your attention of singling out the items you feel GREAT in, and eliminating those that make you feel otherwise.

4. If you’re leaning towards discarding something, DO NOT “try it on one last time”!!
I cannot stress this enough. Taking that last walk down memory lane, “just seeing” if there is any life left in that item is a sure fire way to wind up with another erroneous addition to the “keep” pile. If you feel the item is ready to go, follow through straight away and don’t try to convince yourself it’s worth hanging on to.
Next: Assess items based on real reasons!

Excellent advice, I need to try this!
Glad you found it useful xx
Maybe I’ll read this every week for a few months to make sure I follow those steps.. Makes it seem so simple.
Also, just tackle it bit by bit.. (ie t-shirts, or jeans..) that way it’s not so overwhelming and you don’t notice so much going out the door. Good luck! xx
I am so bad at letting go, although over the years I’ve become much choosier about what I buy.
That is really the best strategy BellaB – make the right decision from the beginning and have less to worry about later!
