Trend Watch: NYFW Spring 2014

This year’s NYFW for Spring 2014 brought the hottest street style stars, celebrities and designers to NYC to celebrate fashion.

There are definitely some key trends to come off the runways to watch out for in the coming months…check them out below.

1. Crop Tops.

90’s revival looks like its back for another year, with croptops and 90’s cuts having a strong presence on the runways from the likes of Phillip Lim, DKNY (pictured below), Zimmermann, Christian Siriano and Alexander Wang.

2. Androgyny.

Boxy cuts and menswear inspired pieces again made a strong appearance. Longer sleeves and structured tops are paired with feminine accessories for a modern look. Labels including Victoria Beckham (pictured below), Alexander Wang and Theyskens Theory did this trend proud on the runway.

3. Sheer perfection.

Sheer is beautiful and feminine, especially when its walking the runways of the likes of Zimmermann (pictured below), Jason Wu and Zac Posen.

4. Bustier baby.

Bustiers have made a strong reappearance in general. Tops with structure, texture and volume are interesting and feminine, making a look dressy and chic without having to do too much. Spotted on the runways at Sass & Bide (pictured below), Oscar de la Renta and Kate Spade.

5. Red Rover.

Red is popping up all over the runways in bold, block colours. The hue is beautiful, feminine and powerful and will turn heads wherever you go. Seen on the runways of Kate Spade, Richard Chai Love, Monique Lhullier and Christian Siriano.

6. Metallic Madness.

All that glitters is indeed gold, silver, bronze and more on the Spring 2014 runways. We love this eye catching look seen on the runways of Thakoon, Diane Von Furstenburg and Altuzarra (pictured below).

Oh dear, “sheer” and “red” are the only trends I’m happy about out of that list!
