There is something so compelling about Tilda Swinton. Part of it might be her mystery, as the notoriously private actress is rarely in the public eye. Part of it may be here scrupulous choice of roles, which are based purely on artistic integrity rather than the paycheck it brings in. One can only respect and admire a artisan so dedicated to their craft, as few of us can really say we would do the same.
That’s not to say that life as Tilda Swinton is without its perks, with trips to Cannes and fronting Chanel campaigns only adding to her allure. Her unusual, alien-esque features have made her something of a fashion darling and it is clear that Karl Lagerfeld himself has fallen under her spell.
For Chanel Pre Fall 2013, the collection and campaign has drawn inspiration from Scotalnd shot by King Karl himself the new advertisements are set against a backdrop of medieval tapestries with use of beautiful rich fabrics in tartan, and intricate embellishments that bring an unexpected twist, as always, to the pre-fall offerings.

She’s so distinctive, it’s sometimes disconcerting – yet appealing.
