Beauty on your big day is probably one of the more stressful moments. Getting the right look, feeling like yourself, wanting everything to be perfect.
Its not as simple as that, and often includes a skincare and health care regiment for a year or six months before hand, including regular facials, dieting and workout plans.
On your big day though, with so much going on, its hard to remember everything that you need to do, say, bring (thats why you have your girlfriends there, right!). So here are some of our top tips that we have gleaned from experienced brides about the dos and donts of beauty on the day.
Tip 1. Bring baby wipes. Its great to freshen up after dancing your heart out or after that big moment down the aisle.
Tip 2. Do a trial run. Whether or not you hire a makeup artist, you need to do a trial. If the makeup artist does something you hate on the day…its too late! Don’t feel pressured to do “traditional” bridal makeup. Do whats suits you and what you feel comfy with…if you feel uncomfortable, it will show.
Tip 3. Stay true to the real you. While you want to look your best, you want to look YOUR best and not like someone else.
Tip 4. Hit a dayspa the day before. For a last minute pampering and to really make you glow, spend the day at a dayspa for facials and massages to make sure you’re really in the zone on the day.
Tip 5. Wear comfy clothes while getting your makeup done. Make sure its something that DOESNT have to go over the head. I have heard tales of tops being cut off because the makeup was done! Investing in a professional hair and makeup girl is often well worth the money.
Tip 6. Pack a touchup/disaster kit. This is often a task for bridesmaids, but make sure you are on it. Make sure your touch up kit has all your makeup colours in there. Pack wipes, cotton buds, bobby pins, safety pins, tissues and any other emergency bits and bobs you might need.
Tip 7. Opt for waterproof mascara or eyelash extensions. Lets face it. You’re going to be teary. No need for panda eyes too!
Tip 8.Your brows frame your face, so make sure they’re perfect. Perfect brows can make or break a look. Get them groomed for at least a few months prior by a recommended therapist. On the big day, I would recommend hiring a makeup artist and getting her to fill them properly.
What are some of your big day beauty tips? Would love to hear them!
