Ok. So it is a new year, and a clean slate. New Years Resolutions never seem to stick for me, so instead I have set goals for what I want to achieve in 3 month periods. One of those goals is to REALLY get fit and active this year.
So for my third visit to Virgin Active Health Clubs (I visited Pitt St) I decided to get educated on how exactly to use all the weird and wonderful machines and accouterments that can often seem daunting.
Enter, Virgin Active’s crack team of Personal Trainers- whose sunny dispositions and zest for exercise keep you motivated throughout your training session. For me, it was my secretly aggressive competitive nature that came into play, wanting to prove my prowess in all things fitness (don’t laugh…I tried).
There is no judgement here no matter what level you are at, because lets face it, even the most hardened abs started as flab at some point. The first thing we did was sit down and discuss what my goals were in terms of fitness, and also what my strengths and weaknesses were.
The thing is, as much as we all like to think we know what we are doing at the gym and in life- it is these guys jobs to research and find the best methods for getting you fit and healthy.
The other interesting thing about the VA Personal Trainers is that the sessions are uniquely 45 minutes long. According to Virgin Active the time frame is the exact right length to get the most out of the session.
Gyms can be daunting and sometimes intimidating with all those bulging biceps- so for me Personal Training sessions were a great way to get fully acquainted with everything so I can finally play with the big boys (so to speak).
Check out part three of my diary below. More to come, and a special thanks to John from Virgin Active for showing me the ropes!
P.S How good are my Adidas Australia duds!

Interesting. Go Tash!
hope you reach your goal, go for it
I never took my membership at Curves seriously till about a year ago until I got back into performing music. That was the motivating factor for me and I haven’t looked back, having lost 13 kilos. Goals are so important .. they give you something to strive for.
Go girl!
The “goals” approach is a good one.
