Beauty How-To: Flawless Foundation and Concealer

For most women, one essential to a complete make up look is foundation – either creme, liquid or powder – and concealer. The pressing question is… how do you get that airbrush finish no matter the brand of the product? Here are a few of our top tips to get that flawless finish:

1. Cleanser and Moisturizer: Looking after your skin from an early age is an integral part of attaining that picture perfect finish. We suggest Alpha-H’s Micro Cleanse and Kora’s Hydrating Day and Night Cream.

2. Application of Concealer: For liquid concealers, place a small amount on the back of your hand, take a small make up brush and blend it in to the red areas on your face and any dark circles you may have.

For stick concealers, again use a small brush to apply the product onto your face. By using a small brush you are stopping any excess oils from your hands being applied on your face and messing up your concealer. After the concealer has been applied, use a finishing or translucent powder over the areas you have used concealer on – only a small amount, you do not need a lot, the powder sets the concealer so it doesn’t smudge when you apply foundation.

3. Application of Foundation: For liquid foundations, put a small amount on the back of your hand and use a foundation brush to start from your nose. Use small criss-cross strokes until your entire face is covered in a fine layer. Once this is complete use your finishing or translucent powder and apply all over the face until to set the foundation.
For powder foundation, apply a small amount of powder onto your brush (Kabuki Brush or similar) and start from your T-Section (nose and eyebrow/forehead area). Move outwards with circular motions to apply evenly and reapply powder onto the brush when necessarily.

For creme foundation, use the liquid foundation method.
