Sky Ferreira stars in the latest ASOS Magazine shot by photographer Jason Lee Parry in a edgy, street chic shoot that mirrors the singer/model’s cult cool vibe.
Some highlights from the cover interview:
On splitting with her label
“I wouldn’t go back and not have done it though…I wouldn’t be who I am, or where I am, or where I might be going, if it hadn’t happened. I know how to say no now, I know how to compromise. And I’ve been embraced, chewed and spat out, so I’m never completely shocked by anything.”
On her summer track ‘Everything is Everything’
“They (Pitchfork) put it as best new track…I wasn’t expecting it. Nothing’s happened like that for me before, where people have really responded to it. The next day I made a video for $2 with my friend Grant who I live with when I’m in LA. We bought a bus pass and drove around the city and sat in a park lip-synching.”
On working with Hedi Slimane
“‘I met Hedi on a shoot…I wasn’t even supposed to be there, I was just dropping off clothes for a friend and he asked to take my picture…He’s so likeable that you can’t say no to him!”
On her obsessions
“I watched Kim’s (Kardashian) wedding for 90 minutes straight, commercials and all…I’m so amused by it, I’m really interested in pop culture because I find it so weird.’
On her style
“I’ve always loved fashion…I’ve always collected magazines, even in the ninth grade, I would collect i-D and Dazed. And I still buy Italian Vogue, even though I can’t read a word. I had all of Carine Roitfeld’s issues of Paris Vogue, that was how I fell in love with Lara Stone, because she used to put her on the cover all the time.”
