Salon Review: The Girl You Love

When you first step foot inside The Girl You Love, it’s like being transported into a little apartment somewhere in Paris.

Tucked away in Glebe, this delightful little salon is run by Kay Glass who has over thirty years of experience in the beauty industry.

Kay greets me with a warm smile and immediately I feel at home. Sitting back in a plush wingback chair as I fill out my skincare questionnaire I almost feel as if I am back in Paris, with the cobbled streets and the smells of the bakeries wafting through the air.

As you all know, I am always moaning about my skin so Kay suggested a treatment called micro hydrabrasion.

Unlike microdermabrasion which can become aggresive, hydrabrasion doesnt use all those messy crystals.

First off, Kay gave me her signature facial, which I was so close to falling asleep from because I was transported into such a world of bliss. This includes double cleanse, exfoliation, steam, optional extraction, blissful face, neck & décolletage massage, nourishing mask, specialised serums, hydrating moisturiser & SPF…bliss right!

Following this we started on the micro hydrabrasion. To begin,Kay used a diamond Microdermabrasion tip which exfoliates dead skin cells whilst gentle suction lifts the skin to unclog pores. When you look in the little plastic tub that captures all the dead skin cells you will be so surprised! There was heaps in there, which kindof tells you how much traditional exfoliation does for you. It definitely didn’t hurt but I could certainly feel my skin feeling a little hot, which is where the next step comes in.

Next a second exfoliating phase is combined with a cooling jet of water instantly calms skin, while it also flushes debris that has been loosened from your pores whilst it flushes debris from the pores leaving skin super smooth, clean & bright.

As Kay said, it’s like steam cleaning your carpets, only for your face. Daily cleansing and exfoliation does not go as deep into the pores as this treatment. I only have had the one treatment and left feeling squeaky clean and radiant. Kay recommends a course of 6 -12 treatments, spaced 1-2 weeks apart for the best results though!

Wow! Gorgeous, quaint salon. Shame it’s too far away.
