A nifty little product that has been embraced by beauty gurus and professionals in the industry, OCC Lip Tars are a fun and inexpensive way to experiment with a wide array of unusual colours.
Lip tars are a liquid lipstick with a tattoo effect, designed to last all day on the lips without need of touch-ups. They come in a stunning range of colours from your classic pinks, reds and nudes to electric blue, yellow and sage. They can be worn alone but many of the colours are actually designed for mixing, so you can mix up different colours to achieve one to your own liking!
The lip tars are packaged in a simple squeeze-tube with a white cap, the minimalistic look being quite characteristic of indie brands like OCC. Very basic and clean, so if you’re a fan of flashy packaging you’re definitely not going to get it with OCC. The product, however, more than makes up for the plain casing. Each lip tar is densely pigmented, so much to the point that you needn’t use more than a grain sized amount each time. All the lip tars are true to colour and one swipe is more than enough for full opacity.
One of the selling points of these lip tars is the claim that they last all day. I am yet to find a lip product that actually lives up to that claim but these do come close! I noticed a tiny bit of feathering after about 7 hours of wear and by the end of the day most of the product had faded to leave a noticeable stain.
These can be a little difficult to find, but you can find them in Lehved in Surry Hills for $10 each. You can also order online.
What do you all think of these lip tars? How about long-lasting lip products in general- do they live up to the claim? Let me know!

I’ve heard good things about these lip tars! I might try them out.
I tried this through a subscription to a sample box and found the consistency very pigmented and just lovely. It does make quite a statement though. I always wonder who would buy the black and white ones!
Sounds interesting, would like to try them. Could work for make up artist needing custom or unusual colours. Green’s not likely to make my makeup bag though.
I have been sent 2 different shades of OCC Lip Tar through some of the monthly beauty boxes. One I tried was a red shade and I found when I applied it on my lips I looked like a clown, I didn’t like the way it stayed. The lighter one was like a nude shade, that was better but I would still prefer my lipgloss.
They sound positive but are they dry on your lips & do you need to put a lip gloss on the top???
I like the colour range, I always thought that Lime Crime were the only company to do such bizarre colours!
oooo cool
love
lovely
would love to try
nice
such beautiful shades
7 hours is a pretty good stint. Much better than one hour.
heard good things about this – would love to try!
ooo clever
There’s such a variety of colours! Thanks for the review 🙂
I’d love to try these.. but in a ‘normal’ colour!
Great colours, but I’ve found them to be quite dry. If your lips aren’t super hydrated the colour sinks into the cracks. Not attractive.
Awesome colours, not really a make up person but would love to try!
Sounds interesting and reasonably priced. You’d want to make sure you picked the right shade though!
The word tar makes it sound a bit full on!
Might have to pop in to Lehved before uni one day!
I’ve not seen these before, good to try
I didn’t want to try any way out colours but I have ordered the plum, think it will be good
$10 for 7+ hours of wear isn’t bad.

i have heard great things about these but also that they bleed a lot if you apply too much
