Product Review: Maybelline FIT ME! Blush in ‘Medium Pink’

I love beauty bargains. If there was a job called ‘Beauty Thrifter’, and involved digging around in Priceline’s beauty bins for heavily discounted products… I would be the first in line, jumping up and down and shouting ‘Me! Me! Me!’. The best thing about the product that I’m writing about today is that you won’t need to deal with shoving, pushing, catfights or damaged fingernails to get your mitts on it. The RRP is so reasonably priced you could pick this up and still have enough to buy that train ticket home. Unless, you are the lady that lives in her makeup. Literally. Step in Maybelline’s FIT ME! Blush in ‘Medium Pink’, RRP $14.95.

PACKAGING

I do like the lightweight packaging of the product – it’s functional, well sized, with a handy clear flip-top lid so you can see the shade. It also comes with a mini blush brush – and I am definitely not a fan. Not only is it far too flat and narrow to apply and blend the product properly, but it’s also scratchy, feeling like steel wool all over my face. God forbid that I didn’t get gashes all over my cheeks after using this. The day beauty companies supply quality blush brushes in the packaging, I shall rejoice.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

A beautiful peachy-pink powder blush infused with fine silver shimmer. It’s not a heavily pigmented blush, so I needed a good number of strokes before the colour began to show, however the finish is incredibly natural and glowing. It’s also great for those girls in a hurry, as the sheer hue does not need a heap of blending. I’ve even applied this without a mirror! The shimmer also works as a highlighter for your cheekbones, providing a sculpted finish. I would recommend this product for girls with light to medium skintones, as I believe this shade would have difficulty showing on any darker complexions.

APPLICATION TIPS AND TRICKS

Use a full sized fluffy blush brush to swirl product onto the apples of the cheeks. Blend upwards on the cheekbones, aiming for the top of the ear. If you’ve applied too much, apply some pressed powder over the top to tone down the colour.
