Another Aussie Plus Sized Model Killing It

For the first time in its history, international plus-size fashion retailer Torrid has signed a model to be its official face. An Aussie model no less! Meet Georgina Burke, Brisbane born bombshell who has made waves in the internet and fashion worlds with her launch campaign for the label in this hot-to-trot swim spread.

Says Burke to WWD, “I kind of freaked…It was just so exciting. A plus-size model going under contract with a brand hasn’t happened for years, and it couldn’t be with a better company.”

Burke follows suit with a bevvy of other successful plus sized Australian models, most notably Robyn Lawley who has graced the cover of Italian Vogue.

The appointment reflects a growing trend for retailers and fashion professionals who are moving towards embracing this lucrative and popular market. Just last month, IMG signed on five new plus-size models, so lets hope this is a sign of more diversity to come.
