Outside of loving everything about Erin Wasson’s style, I found myself pretty fond of a particular gold star necklace she wore in the most recent editorial for S Moda Magazine. A few weekends back, me and my best friend headed to NYC and we put a major dent in our wallets on beads.
Tons of chain, some pyrite and few other glitzy gems made their way back to my abode, unfortunately small gold star beads weren’t mixed in the lot somewhere and until I find them I figured it couldn’t hurt to track down the featured necklace…..just in case.
Despite the language barrier of the credits I managed to single out the star necklace and determined its from a brand based out of Spain called Malababa. They carry an extensive line of look gorgeous finishing products including shoes, handbags and belts made of the most lux, handcrafted leathers using traditional Spanish techniques. That’s the other selling point about Malababa, everything is still made in Madrid. As for the jewelry, each piece offered up a bit of that effortless cool attitude we love and looked very layer friendly. I can see exactly why they chose to use the label in the editorial.
As for the brand itself, it was founded in 1997 by Ana Carrasco and Jaime Lara. From 2000 to 2003 the company began seeing growth due to a number of fairs they took part in as well as Madrid Fashion Week. Soon after their products went international being found in select boutiques all over and in 2010 they opened their first physical location in Madrid. Although finding a location that carries the brand may prove to be difficult don’t go getting your panties in a bunch….they offer international shipping through their online store.
