The festive season is an excuse to wander around this lavish, magical two-storey building, where you will find everything gift-worthy from fragrance to bath and body products. “Limited” is definitely not a word to describe this divine store. Sephora also offers men products such as fragrance and skincare sets, which is a great bonus.

The wait was definitely worth it for the eager makeup enthusiasts who lined up overnight to enter when doors opened on the 5th. (The first few hundred customers were greeted with gifts and confetti at the grand opening at 12pm.)

…. aaaand, lift-off! Image: dailymail,co.uk

This mega cosmetics chain is owned by fashion behemoth, LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton. Without a doubt, American makeup gurus on YouTube have contributed to the hype as they raved about makeup from Sephora that weren’t available in the Australian market yet.

And if you’re envying Sydneysiders right now from all the hype, don’t you worry! Sephora proposes to open more stores across the country eventually. But for now, to all you Sydneysiders, enjoy the abundant makeup brands all under one iconic roof.

SEPHORA Australia Country Manager, Fiona Novak said “Our Sydney launch has broken sales records for any SEPHORA opening, and the atmosphere in store is simply electric!”

I gather the prices aren’t as good as promised.

Ivysaurus, there is still a line to get into the store and line to buy things too. I walked in and they are makeup artists ready to put makeup on you and I saw people asking questions.

Sounds like pretty much everyone is enamoured with Sephora – and it’s hard to leave the store without an arm full of goodies! Shame about the price hike over US prices, though doesn’t surprise me…. that Pitt St store would NOT have come cheap! Still, brands (especially huge ones like this) should honour their promises.

I’m actually going to wait a few months before hitting the store just so everything calms down and I’m not left with unstocked shelves.

I first discovered Sephora in Downtown Disney, Anaheim many years ago – I spent an absolute fortune, never seen anything like it before, it was like a candy shop of items I just had to own or else! Free samples galore, could not ask for more! I haven’t been to the Sydney one and probably won’t but I wish them every success. I regard Sephora as a treat for me whenever I’m holidaying in the States!

I am not in Sydney therefore I have not visited Sephora but they are saying that the average price for certain ranges are approximately $10 higher than in the US???

I was SO excited about Sephora coming to Aus and their claim they’d be matching U.S prices, but once that promise fell through, so did my excitement. Might check it out, won’t be taking the credit card though…. Boo!

Crossing fingers they have an online store up & running soon. I fell in love with Sephora in Paris & NY. At least Sydney is not out of the question for a day of stocking up on our favourite products if we are lucky & find a cheap return airfare. Please come to Queensland.

I can’t wait for a Melbourne store! Suppose to be opening early 2015?

If I could stand and walk long enough, I would have been there for sure! I have drooled over Sephora’s stock online for years now…..but I see that on TV tonight they’re having a story about Sephora and their promise to make the prices of their products comparable to the U.S. …apparently they’re taking us for a ride by increasing prices for us Aussie shoppers – not cool!

The crowds / queues seem to have died down a little now @hausoftina, but I imagine it’ll still be pretty busy for months to come!
