Beauty Crush: Lupita Nyong’o

If you haven’t yet heard of Lupita Nyong’o you will definitely be hearing a heck of a lot more of her this year. Just a few years ago Nyong’o was working as a runner on a film for Ralph Fiennes. Now she’s an Oscar and Golden Globe nominee for her seriously incredible job in 12 Years a Slave.

Its our favourite underdog story, a rare Kenyan flower plucked from obscurity and launched into the stratosphere, with the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts and Oprah all gushing over her talent and beauty. 

Ralph Fiennes can be credited with setting Lupita along the path to success. Says Nyong’o, “He asked me what I wanted to do with my life,” she said “and so I very shyly said I wanted to be an actor too, and he sighed deeply and said, ‘Lupita, only act if you can’t breathe without it.’

Aside from her stellar acting skills, Lupita is something a red carpet pro already, stunning in a series of gowns and the perfect beauty looks thanks to her wonderful makeup artist.
