Marc Jacobs’ final campaign for Louis Vuitton for Spring 2014 featured fashion darlings like Sofia Coppola, Catherine Deneuve and Gisele Bündchen, and als highlighted the brand’s new hyper-luxury bags which, according to Purseblog, just hit the web.
Louis Vuitton as a brand has made announced publicly that it is moving toward more expensive and more exclusive goods, presumably to combat the tainted brand name from the thousands upon thousands of fakes that flood the market. This explains the seriously ridic price tag for the spring collection handbags which all cost somewhere between $20,000 and $40,000.
The new line of bags are a luxe long way from monogrammed speedy which was my first designer purchase (cringe). The collection includes bucket bags, top-handles and shoulder bags in expensive materials like alligator skin, Swarovski crystals, and peacock and pheasant feathers.
The brand has brought on a new designer for the accessories, Darren Spaziani — formerly of Balenciaga and Proenza Schouler — who has been given, quite frankly, the mammoth task of exclusivity back to the brand, and while the price tag will help, it will also hinder sales!
