Steph Kramer is the founder of one of our favourite blogs, Watermelon Crush. Utilizing Steph’s skills as a graphic designer combined with her innately chic sense of style and legs that go for miles, the blog is a beautiful curation of all things inspiring.
Steph took us for a little peek inside her wardrobe plus took the time to chat to us about her style, inspirations and life in general.
BWA: What does style mean to you?
SK: Style can be a scary word, especially when you work in fashion. Sometimes it feels a bit like “Get it wrong and you’re out.” to me, which is why I try to see style as an extension of myself. I wouldn’t call anything right or wrong, it’s just an expression of your personality, a statement if you will.
BWA: What do you look for when you are hunting for new wardrobe additions?
SK: I’m a sucker for staples, and do the usual ‘cost per wear’ when I’m shopping. If I didn’t I would fall for every other statment piece out there and end up with a closet of clashes.
BWA: Key items from your wardrobe?
SK: A good men’s style shirt, a pair of strappy heels (black or white will do), a pair of black skinny jeans, 2-3 pieces of fine jewellery to layer and an oversized watch.
BWA: What are three wardrobe tips for our readers this year?
SK: If in doubt, white on white or black on black ALWAYS works – this is for every day as well as evening. Invest in an oversized slim-line blazer and a pair of skinny jeans (black or white)
BWA: Favourite online stores?
SK: Shopbop, Top Shop, Net-a-Porter (for guilty pleasures) and ASOS for the everyday fixes.
BWA: What inspired you to start blogging?
SK: I was blogging by age 14 (back when blogs were really only for us nerds…!) as I loved to write and keep file of beautiful images that I found and took myself. When I came to Australia 7 years a go it was a way for me to keep in touch with my nearest and dearest, and once I noticed a following I decided to make the blog more a public platform for style and inspiration. It’s still a very personal thing for me, and I don’t know what I’d do without it.
BWA: Style inspirations?
SK: Elin Kling and Coco Chanel – a confident woman with a no-effort dress sense it so strong and sexy.
BWA: If you could have breakfast with anyone alive or dead, who would it be and why?
SK: My brother. He is my strength, my best friend and I miss him every day! I would pass up any celebrity breakfast for a chat over toast and coffee with him in a heartbeat.
