No matter what beauty and makeup trends come and go, the ‘barely there’ or ‘nude makeup’ face never goes out of style. Whilst we’d all LOVE to “just wake up like that”, the nude makeup look does require a little prep work if you want to glow and feel confident throughout the entire day.
Read on to learn how to do nude makeup that will enhance your natural beauty!
1. Face
Perfecting the nude makeup look starts with a flawless complexion. To create the perfect nude base, apply a tinted moisturiser or BB cream to the whole face to create a lightweight and even coverage. For full coverage, use a foundation and apply to the whole face, lips and eyelids with an applicator brush.
Correct any dark spots around the eyes, blemishes or redness in the nose and chin area with a concealer. Use sparingly to avoid any build-up that will make the problem areas more noticeable.
Lightly dust the face with powder to set the tinted moisturiser or foundation. Use a powder that’s slightly illuminated to create a natural glow.

2. Cheeks
Using a bronzer or contouring kit, add depth to the nude makeup base (where needed) to avoid looking washed out. Apply a powder one or two shades darker than you natural skin tone just below the cheekbones.
Blend toward your ear and angle down toward the mouth. To avoid looking unnatural, be careful not to bring the colour too close to the front of the cheek. Add a cream highlight to the top of the cheekbones to finish.

Alternatively, create a soft dewy finish on the cheekbones with a cream blush in light pink or peach. Dot the cream blush on the apples of your cheeks and blend in circles towards the temples.

3. Eyes
Using a similar wash or tone as on the cheeks, apply a neutral cream shadow in peach or a colour slightly darker than your natural skin tone. Apply to the whole eyelid to form a perfect base for the nude makeup look. To add more depth, apply a mid-tone shadow from the lash line to the crease. Highlight the inner corners of the eye and brow bone with a subtle shimmer to brighten.
Using the same mid-tone shadow, tap into the upper and lower lash line to create balance and fill in any gaps between the lashes.
Use a clear brow gel to shape and add texture to the brows. To finish up the eyes apply a coat of mascara or, for a super natural look skip the mascara altogether.

4. Lips
Using a similar shade to that on the eyes and cheeks, dab on a tinted lip balm or semi-sheer nude lipstick. Opt for a creamy finish over matte to finish off the ultimate barely there makeup look.

Looooove the barely-there look.
I’m still searching for a tinted moisturiser/BB cream that doesn’t make me look a nasty shade of yellow or orange… i
have quite a fair complexion. Any tips?
