H&M Set To Hit Australian Shores

H&M is following the droves of international high street chains making the move into Australia and has reportedly been shopping for retail space for their flagship Australian store.

According to the buzz on the streets, the first store is set to hit lucky Melbournites first although Sydney is not out of the question.

Considering the caliber of designer collaborations H&M has produced in recent years, we are pretty darn excited to be able to shop the brand without having to use a mail forwarding service.

Other reported international brands intending to hit the Aussie market are Uniqlo, Abercrombie & Fitch and Forever 21.
I’m of two minds about this invasion…on one hand its great for lots of affordable outfits, on the other hand it sucks the individuality out of personal style and makes it less fun to shop high street when you are travelling.

What are your thoughts on the high street invasion?

Awww come to Brisbane PLEASE! I’d LOVE to see Forever 21 come to Australia. America has some of the best clothing stores, but so does Australia too!

great, but do you think it will cost more in oz as other brands are more expensive in oz compare to other countries

It’s about time Australia was on par with the rest of the world re style availability on the street not just online. Having said that I find Zara boring cheap product that is way overpriced for what it is and could get better quality from some of the local brands like Sportsgirl for same or better price. And going to Melbourne recently compared to five years ago yielded less shopping delight as most things were same as Sydney so yes you do lose some of that local fashion flavour but that’s the way it goes.

i’m also in two minds. yes it gives us access to great brands, but as soon as they have a bricks & mortar presence here the prices will go up to cover the overheads.

It doesnt matter too much if another person has the same item, since your personal style affects how you wear the same garment,

I agree, how many more oversized overpriced stores do we need producing hundreds of the same garment that every second person seems to own. We should be supporting our local labels who provide high quality, soulful and individual designs and inspire creativity!
