It would have been impossible to miss the news over the past year that Gucci is undergoing a major renaissance thanks to a new creative director, Alessandro Michele. His collections, which have (so far) been wholeheartedly embraced by the fashion world are imaginative, colourful, eccentric and for want of a better word: C-R-A-Z-Y.

Heavily and opulently decorated, the looks are a cacophony of clashing patterns, quirky embroidery, pleats, layers, fur and fringe. Bugs and beetles adorn lapels, ties, bags and shoes. Lurex screams out from knitted tops, skirts and jumpers. Fur adorns shoes. Nothing is quiet. It’s literally everything fashion has lacked for the better part of the last decade!
Love it or loathe it, one thing is certain: Alessandro’s Gucci and the ‘eccentric/nerdy grandma’ trend in general is not going anywhere if the fashion world has its way.
So how on earth has this Gucci look been worn off the runway? Is it even possible? Click through the gallery to decide for yourself:
