BWA’s go to for beauty tips, Magazine Beauty Editor Eleanor Pendleton takes us through the latest in beauty trends straight from the runways at New York Fashion Week.
Whether you believe the saying or not, blondes really did have more fun at Rodarte’s A/W Collection at Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week this week.
Rodarte’s delightful duo, Laura and Kate Mulleavy kept to a neutral colour palette for their ‘Days of Heaven’ fall offering coming in varying shades of nude, beige and brown. But it was the make-up that had the front row of fashionistas and bloggers really oohing and aahing.
M.A.C make-up artist James Kaliardos who created the ‘pastoral beauty’ look says building the eye make-up was reminiscent of a “stormy sunset”.
Kaliardos swept a pre-mixed blend of M.A.C Pro Cream Colour Base ($36) in Nude and Yellow Scream over models’ lids, adding M.A.C Eyeshadow in Crystal ($33) through the crease. Brows were diffused ever so slightly with a layer of nutty beige thanks to MAC Eyeshadow in Soba ($33). To give girls an authentic, straight-off-the farm touch, Kaliardos coated their lashes with M.A.C Pro Longwear Concealer in NC-45 to for a virgin-like look.
Finishing touches came in the form of a rosy-brown lip painted with MAC Lipstick in Photo ($36) and nails lacquered with Deborah Lippmann’s No More Drama.
“It’s like glam Kansas,” says Lindsey Wixson, one of the models who walked for Rodarte. “It’s not a thoroughfare for fashion, but it’s home to me.”
