Beauty How-To: Prevent Common Make Up Mishaps

When it comes to matching a lip colour with your eye colour, there are a few common mistakes that women will make. These mistakes will lessen the effect of your eye make up that you spent a good amount of time on!

1. Bold Eye – Bold Lip
Using a bold lip colour when you have a bold smokey eye or dominating eye features lessens the over all effect of the make up.

For example, smokey eyes – red lips. While most think this is a common and sexy look, the red lipstick can actually cheapen the smokey eye look and the over all effect – so instead of going bold, go for a nude, muted lipstick, lip balm or even a thin layer of liquid foundation on your lips. Less is more sometimes ladies!

2. Lip Gloss
Many think that lip gloss is the ultimate finishing product when it comes to finishing your ‘face’ but that is a common misconception.

If you are using a lip gloss, make sure it isn’t a colour that washes you out! Examples include red tinted lip gloss, it doesn’t look fantastic on everybody! Make sure it suits your skin tone and hair colour. Also don’t lather it on as if it was lipstick, you don’t need a large amount of lip gloss to finish it off, only a slight shine – don’t go crazy!

3. Layers of Concealer
Concealer is just that – concealer, it creates a better base for your foundation; you don’t need a large amount of it on every red spot or dark circle. By lightening the area with concealer it becomes much easier to hide with foundation (no matter the kind). Plus if you put to much on it cakes and cracks in the area you have used it – so use it sparingly! (its why it is always in small bottles!)
