Celeb Style: Dita Von Teese

Not your traditional style-icon, Dita Von Teese has fought her way to the fashion forefront with her signature style and effortless sex appeal. Her look is unmistakeable; that ebony hair and porcelain complexion – if Snow White were a pin-up girl, she would be Dita Von Teese.

Her make-up is simple – matte red lips and black winged eyes – a look that is easy to replicate with the right products in your arsenal.

The bat-winged eye is achieved using a black gel eyeliner (we suggest MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack, $32.00) and a fine-tip liner brush. Start your eyeliner super close to the lash line, beginning at the inner corner and extending beyond the eye – the outer eye should be thicker, so build slowly.

The classic pin-up girl red lips are achieved by lining the lips with a red lip liner (we love MAC’s  Lip Pencil in Cherry, $30.00) and blend the liner into the rest of your lips using a lip brush. Then apply a perfectly matched red lipstick (try MAC Lipstick in Russian Red, $36.00) using the same lip brush.

To achieve Dita’s curls create a strong side part and begin curling your hair in hot rollers. Make sure the curlers are vertical and not horizontal; this is the trick to getting those glamorous pin-up curls that we all know and love. Lightly spray with hairspray and leave for 15 to 20 minutes. The remove the rollers and pin your hair at the temple to create that curly bang that Dita is so famous for.
