Caulfield Racing – Classic Style Award

Caulfield Cup marks the first of the major race days in the Melbourne Spring Racing Festival and while it might be a big day for horse racing, it’s also a big day for fashion.

The Caulfield Classic Style Award provides an opportunity for Australian designers to showcase their best race wear look for the season. The brief: to create an outfit that best reflects ‘classic style race wear’.

With an amazing prize of $25 000 to go towards a major fashion event of their choice, it’s not hard to see why the 2010 competition brought in some of the best in Australian fashion. Entrants this year include Yeojin Bae, Arabella Ramsay, TL Wood, Alexi Freedman,, Perri Cutten, Liz Jordan for Noni B, Anna Campbell, House of Bulch, Mr K, Patricia Keech, Made in Donald, Leonard St, Autonomy, United Soul and Tristania Drive.

Unveiled at The Underwood Stakes Day held on September 18, the above selected Classic Style Award competitors showcased their best race wear looks to a panel of industry professionals.

While the judging panel decides the winner, members of the public are also encouraged to vote online for the People’s Choice Award. The outfit with the most votes wins and the label walks away with the $5000 and all who vote go into the draw to win a BMW Caulfield Cup Day experience worth $2500.
