BWA’s Ten Ways To Relax During The Silly Season

Christmas and New Years is almost here, and whilst the party season can bring lots of cheer – the endless gift shopping and preparation can leave us worn out. So in light of the holiday season I thought it would be nice to share with Breakfast With Audrey readers some ways to take time out and ‘chillax’. You’ll be surprised what a little TLC for you can do!

1 – Do something creative….
Start a D.I.Y project you’ve always wanted to do, a recipe that you’ve wanted to try, or something that’s caught your eye. Even better, a beautiful homemade piece can go a long way as a gift; you’ll save money and it allows your creative juices to go wild. So start You-tubing!

2 – Have a hot bath….
Fill up a bubble bath, light some aromatherapy candles, and put on a cup of tea. This is an instant pick-me up that will rejuvenate your body and give you some much needed down time between those busy days.

3 – Read, Read, Read…
Whether it be your favourite magazine, book or favourite blog 😉 Reading lets us escape our daily woes into the pages of something exciting, new and inspirational.

4 – Listen to Michael Buble’s Christmas Album with a glass of red….
Enough said!

5 – Express Gratitude…
Grab your notepad or journal and write a list of all the things you are grateful for this year. It’s a perfect time to reflect on the positive things the year has brought, and gives us time to reflect on what we want to achieve in the New Year.

6 – De-clutter and give…
Take an hour or two to pack up clothes that you don’t want or things that you don’t need, and donate them to your nearest charity drive. Generosity goes a long way, and you’ll feel invigorated having less ‘stuff’ cramping your humble abode.

7 – Make a vision board for the New Year…
Cut out pictures of your holiday destination, the things you love, and words that describe what you want to achieve. Vision boards are a powerful way of helping you realise your life ambitions, and help you manifest your goals.

8 – Exercise…
Typical, but so very true. Exercise can release those super-happy endorphins that will give you a much needed energy boost. Make a playlist on your I-pod and go for a walk for half an hour, or go on bike-ride with a friend. Otherwise for a highly relaxing experience – try a yoga class.

9 – Start watching a T.V series
Pick a series that you’ve always been meaning to watch, chuck on your PJ’s, and start a marathon! The girliest thing I love doing in my spare time is putting on an episode of Sex and the City whilst painting my nails. There’s nothing better than getting a daily dose of Carrie Bradshaw to put me in good spirits.

10 – H20
An instant beauty treatment is going for a drive to the beach and refreshing my spirits with salt-water. And the best part about it is that it’s free! If the beach is too far – go for a swim in a pool or blast a cold shower.
