Introducing the beautiful, talented and charming Chow of Heart + Bleecker as our guest editor for September!
I’m very excited to be Breakfast with Audrey’s guest editor for September, otherwise known as ‘30 Days of Fashion and Beauty’. For those who have not stumbled across my tiny niche of the internet, my name is Charmaine (although well known by the alias ‘Chow’, which I often prefer) and I live in the sleepy city of Perth. I started my fashion blog Heart + Bleecker officially in June of last year, although I previously had several which I eventually abandoned. The name of my blog comes from my love affair with New York City; it is the most inspiring place on the planet and not just in terms of fashion!
Ironically enough, I was a tomboy for most of my life and only became interested in my appearance and style a few years ago. Whether it was realising a yellow woollen turtleneck and shiny purple pants (together) were not the greatest idea, or just that I was finally growing up I’m not sure, but the passion hit hard and fast. I still remember the rush I felt buying my first big clothing purchase, a pair of Sass & Bide rats, and to this day finding a pair of shoes or even the tiniest accessory that I absolutely love is a feeling like no other. Unfortunately for my bank account, three years later I now own six pairs of rats and $200 for a pair of leggings no longer seems extravagant. I am a firm believer in quality over quantity and this mantra definitely comes into play when it comes to my fashion purchases. That being said, the idea of a fashion faux pas is alien to me and whether a dress is by Supre or Rick Owens, it’s how much you love it that counts.
Over the month of September I will be giving you my opinions on current trends, designers and collections I love and why I believe fashion blogging has become so important (along with a ‘behind the scenes’ peek at what being a blogger is really like!). I am very grateful to have been given this opportunity and I hope you will enjoy my time here as much as I will enjoy sharing my thoughts with you.
