It’s been a bangin’ year for beauty. We’ve seen everything from grey lips to nail polish retailing at a quarter of a million dollars. And let’s not forget that brief stint with superhero inspired makeup. Whether you’re Team Neon or Team Natural, here are the stand-out hair and beauty trends of 2012.
Neon
Neon can be described as the ultimate “look at me” trend. Love it or loathe it, you better get used to it because it’s sure to stick around ‘til the cooler months set in.
Nail Art
Nail art was the perfect trend for the beauty shy. If you preferred to keep your face fresh, you could let your nails do all the talking.
Berry Lips
Berry lips ranged from the colour of juicy plums to almost black, and there wasn’t a celebrity that didn’t try it at least once on the red carpet this year.
Dip-Dye Hair
This trend slowly crept up on us. It started with natural looking balayage hair, merged into not-so-subtle ombre hair, before transforming into high contrast dip-dye hair.
Braids
Whether it was the Heidi braid, fishtail braid, side braid or waterfall braid, you couldn’t help but love this trend to bits.
