The smoky eye has fast become a fixture in the beauty repertoire of celebrities, models and the general public alike. It’s an oldie now, but a goodie!
Done right, it can add a beautiful mystery to your look and bring out your eyes.
Trouble is, it’s not quite as easy as it looks!
I absolutely love the below video tutorial by video blogger Eman, on how to do Lea Michele’s Golden Globes smokey eye look.
Check it out, plus a little inspiration gallery!

Looks very appealing but sounds hard work to get right
There’s definitely reasons why this ‘trend’ has been used consistently since ancient times. Both women and men like it and men used to wear it and still do subtly in some places and on screen. There are many people who think it’s ‘too much’ though but it really depends on what you prefer and what suits your image/look or what you’re going for on that particular day/occasion. Smokey eye can range from eyeliner around part or the whole eye with reinforced lines (in a different colour or texture) or with slightly dark shadow to heavy liner and shadow both on the lids and upper eye. It just depends on what you can take because even a little can look heavy especially on people with darker hair. It can also easily look heavy on both people with pale and very dark skins. The size of your eyelid goes a long way to determining how much you can use too, since smaller lids needs more to get a similar effect to bigger lids and bigger lids have certain application styles that suit them more without making the eyes look cartoon like. Just practice and don’t put the eyeliner in the eye – on the rim/inner rim like sooo many do. Your eyes aren’t meant to be in direct contact with makeup, it’s not healthy.
love this look
Ty always wanted to get this look ^^
Wish I could do it better
i can never do a smoky eye… my lid space is too small :((
Everytime I attempt smoky eyes it always ends in disaster ๐
Gorgeous look I think anyone can pull off because you can vary its intensity.
Every single one of these women pulls it off flawlessly. It’s really a universal look.
