If there is one trend you have to have a go at, it’s this. The bold, bright lip is becoming ever popular and the perfect trend to add a bit of fun to your look this summer. Boring outfit? Add some popping colour to your lips and you’ll look instantly trendier. The trick is to keep it simple with the rest of your make up of course- completely avoid colour on your eyes and even cheeks- stick to a perfect, flawless looking base and darken your eyes with some mascara and eyeliner if need be.
We’ve set it all out for you here- from products to tutorials and shots of celebs working the look. Hot pinks, tangerine, purples and classic reds are best, however if neon colour isn’t for you, opt for a sexy plum colour.

Honestly, you’ve got to have some guts to try Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC) Lip Tar- but if you do get it right, it’s our pick of the bunch for this look. They’re only US$12.50 each, available online and in some retailers over Australia. You can’t beat the range of colours they have and the end look you get.
1. USE A LIP BRUSH!
2. Build- don’t pack it on with your first layer- it will never dry and you’ll have to be extremely careful you don’t smudge it or get it anywhere but your lips. Start light, then wait until it dries before you go for round two.
3. Slow and steady wins the race! Take your time putting it on- if you make a mistake, it’s hard to correct because it is so sticky.
4. Don’t be afraid to mix colour!
5. Our faves, pictured left to right: Demure, Hoochie, Plum, Safety Orange and NSFW. Get them at occmakeup.com
