Are You Stuck In A Hair Rut?

Oh Gwyneth. We love you and your Goopy ways, but you seem to be stuck in a bit of a hair rut. Don’t worry Gwen (can I call you Gwen?), we’ve all been there. We all know what it’s like to finally find that special hairstyle – “the one,” if you will – that makes us look and feel amazing time and time again. And once said hairstyle is found…well, it’s often hard to break away from it.

We’ve done a little research for you and for everyone else stuck in a hair rut, and found some hairstyles that are different to the one you’re rocking now – but not too different. Let’s just say that these hairstyles will help you feel like a new person while still letting you sit happily within your comfort zone. You’re welcome.

Rather than whipping out your flat-iron, why not use some sea salt spray or a lightweight curling mousse on the tips of your hair? To get a slight wave like this you probably won’t need any hair appliance at all; just use your hands to scrunch the tips.

The traditional braid is practical, no mess, no fuss and keeps the hair off your face. But if you want something a little more grownup, swap it for a side plait. This will work best with second-day hair and a little dry shampoo on the roots (that stuff can give a girl some epic volume). Easy.

As well as looking quite severe, pulling your hair back so tightly isn’t friendly on your hairline. Thraere’s no doubt that it’s a glamorous look, however this post is all about change (but not too much). So next time you pull your hair into a topknot, once it’s all pinned into place, pull and shake on the bun very lightly to loosen the hair around your scalp. Also try placing the palm of your hand at your bun, and sweep it across your scalp in a motion towards your face multiple times to get the soft, flyaway look.

Side swept soft curls are one the most beautiful, yet overused hairstyles on the red carpet at the moment. It all started with the Golden Globes and it hasn’t slowed down since. You’re already ¾ of the way there, so why not just add an elastic band and turn it into a side swept pony? No excuses! So simple, and so stunning. See now Gwen, that wasn’t so hard, was it?
