We are well and truly into 2013 now, and like many of you, I am starting to book in those big calendar dates that warrant a new outfit.
Plus, the new year is all about a new perspective on life, and part of that is always our new take on our sartorial experience.
So to get us all inspired for the year of style ahead, I have asked some of my favourite bloggers, who are some of Australia’s most influential online style makers what their top three style tips are for 2013.
Having celebrated the 10th Anniversary of her blog’s inception last year, Helen is one of the most respected and longest standing bloggers in the online community for all things fashion, beauty and lifestyle.
1. While I love some colour, you can’t go wrong with an amazing pant or short suit. Think Heidi Silmane’s first collection for Saint Laurent Paris. Sexy.
2. Forget statement necklaces, get yourself a pair of statement eyewear. Sunglasses or spectacles, they add so much more to a look than you realise.
3. Invest in a good leather jacket. They add that extra level of edgy/tough chic to a simple denim and t-shirt look.
Jessie is now officially an Australian expat, traveling Europe and documenting her jealousy-inducing travels. Apart from being a style maven herself, Jessie is a talented photographer who searches for stylish ladies and gents across the globe to feature on her blog.
1. Less is more – only purchase pieces which you will wear season after season, year after year. Pieces like a great trench, quality knitwear and well cut pants are always a winner.
2. Embrace leather – tops, pants, jackets, skirts and shorts. Leather works well with almost anything and always looks polished. Although If I had to pick just two pieces it would be an amazing pair of leather shorts and a fitted pair of skinny leather pants.
3. Invest in well made shoes. They don’t need to be expensive, and you don’t need to own 10 different pairs. But a great pair of quality leather boots/flats or heels will last the distance.
Sophia is a budding journalist and on screen presenter with a keen eye for aesthetics. Having grown in prominence over the last few years, Sophia is well loved for her quirky sense of humour, dedication to well writen pieces and her chic style.
1. Wear appropriate underwear (if not please wear underwear in some form).
2. Colour and prints are your friends – inject some into your monochromatic wardrobe.
3. A good (red) lipstick really pulls an outfit together.
Nicole is one of the hottest rising stars in Australia and is set to hit the UK like a whirlwind later this year; working with Candice Lake no less. We can’t wait to see what this talented photographer/blogger/retoucher extraordinaire does next.
1. Invest in staple pieces that will last you longer than one season.
2. Black is the new black.
3. You can never, ever go wrong with Celine.
