I am a long time advocate of online shopping. It means I can do it from my couch, have a thousand tabs open and still have time for work inbetween. Multitasking at its finest.
But there is also something lacking, and I often miss my regular girl trips to the city with my best friends just to spend a day of time together, in a world where we so often struggle to make time for those special people in our lives.
So when Ford Australia approached me to highlight my favourite places in Sydney thanks to their new EcoSport car…well…really who would say no?!? So off I went with my two best friends to hit our fave shopping and eating destination in town, The Intersection Paddington.
There’s a lot about the EcoSport to love, like pairing to your mobile, its super efficient on gas which means more money for shopping, and it comes in fun colours (such a girly thing to love about a car, I know). So a huge thanks to the Ford Australia team for letting me drive around in one of their lovely cars, and trusting me enough to do so!!
There are many amazing things to love about Sydney fashion and really here it has all culminated into one uber chic location. I have put together a list of my favourite boutiques and places to hit while there, and I would love to hear your favourite Sydney boutiques in the comments below!
Jackie’s Cafe
After picking my girls up in the new EcoSport, which by the way, is the easiest and most comfortable thing to drive…we blasted some old school tunes *cough, Britney, cough* and as usual we were already hungry before we reached Paddington. Solution? Jackie’s Cafe which is a city haven full of beautiful decor, beautiful food and of course, great company.
My personal favourite thing about Jackie’s is the exemplary sushi (the sashimi salad is outta this world) but they also have a delish range of all day brekkie options on the weekend and a great wine list ;).
Ginger and Smart
Whenever we go anywhere near The Intersection, my best friend who is a COMPLETE Ginger and Smart addict, makes sure we hit their beautiful boutique, so of course that was first on our agenda.
Just like I still prefer a real book although I have thousands on my iPad, there is something unmistakably delightful in the tactile approach you can take to shopping in store. Especially when you can play with the beautiful accessories that Ginger and Smart has on offer. Seriously a must buy, in recent years Ginger and Smart has really stepped up their sartorial game when it comes to lush, luxe, must have items like the clutch below.
Mecca Cosmetica
Mecca Cosmetica is literally a mecca for beauty addicts around the world, and the stop at The Intersection is no different. Considering one of my best friends is a makeup artist, we would have been remiss really NOT to take a peek…and invariably walk out with piles of new product!
Mecca is well known and loved for their premium brands, stellar service and really its just an all round fun place to spend an hour testing out new products that we totally need but that our boyfriends just don’t understand.
Camilla and Marc
Camilla and Marc was personally my must hit destination of the day- for their understated luxury, updated prints and totally flattering, feminine tailoring.
I picked up a high necked, gray masterpiece of a top which speaks volumes in its simplicity. Gray has to be one of THE colours of the coming season so I was excited to find something so perfect!
Besides that, Camilla and Marc know how to celebrate the female form in flattering dresses in key prints that are just perfect for wedding season.
General Pants
It’s not all high-end Aussie designer stuff, all the time. One of my biggest rules to dressing is to mix and match high and low, because in the end its really about what you wear, not who it’s by.
With style icons like Pip Edwards attached to the brand its no wonder the store and its pieces ooze cult classic cool from every fiber of every One Teaspoon cutoff denim short. Plus, with most things hitting below $200, there’s no danger of breaking the bank!
[With special thanks to Ford Australia for the Ford EcoSport!]
