The Latest Beauty MUST HAVE!

We are predicting a major beauty craze for 2014, with the latest Asian beauty product import of choice which is the yet unheard of konjac sponge. So what on earth is a konjac sponge is?

Made from the root of the konjac plant, these new and exciting sponges are intended to be used in your daily routine for cleansing, used to help clean dirt, oil and blackheads.

As the sponges are made from natural fibers that are super absorbent they have a unique texture, soft and rubbert and soft enough for the sensitive skin of the face. The end result? Cleaner, softer skin, and easier to apply makeup.

The sponge is actually cleaner and more effective than your usual washcloth, creating a rich lather with less cleanser, plus the way it dries means you dont need to wash it as often as you would a washcloth that builds up bacteria very quickly. Experts suggest replacing your sponge monthly, but at an average of around $9 online (see here) its hardly breaking the bank.

The sponge is particularly good for those with acne or pores that are hard to cleanse, as the fibers are both gentle enough for those sensitive skin conditions, but also assist in cleansing in a way that usual methods (washcloth, hands) dont do.

Steps to using a Konjac sponge:

1. Soak your sponge in warm water for at least five minutes to soften up the natural fibers to use on your face.

2. Gently moisten your face.

3. Put a small, pea sized amount of cleanser directly onto the sponge.

4. Massage the sponge in circular motions, concentrating on problem areas.

5. Rince your face, and the sponge and let it air dry.

You can shop various Konjac sponges across the web but our favourites are from KUU Konjac for $8.95 with red french clay HERE, or Green Organics whose sponges have french clay also from around $12.95 HERE.

they look great, i just hope the dyes that are used to dye them are natural and not harmful, it seems silly to have a natural product and then ruin it to make it look “prettier”!
