
Whether you’re a morning person or not, the early hours of the day can be a hectic time for all of us. Some days are for yoga and green juice, others are for pancakes and sleep ins. These nine successful women reveal what they do first thing in the morning to set up their days the best way they know how.
#1 – Anna Wintour
This may come as a surprise to some, but the cornerstone of one of publishing’s most successful women, and the world wide arbiter of personal style – Anna Wintour’s morning routine is tennis. As an early riser, Wintour arrives at New York’s Midtown Tennis Club at 5:45am, for one hour of tennis each day. Then it’s back home for a quick primp before heading to the office.

#2 – Arianna Huffington
This publishing powerhouse starts her stressful days with up to half an hour of meditation. She says that she avoids checking her phone first thing after waking up, instead preferring to take some time to breathe, be grateful and set out her daily intentions. This is key for avoiding feelings of overwhelm, helps her stay productive, and keeps her known as one of the world’s most polished women.
#3 – Isabel Marant
Fashion designer Isabel Marant starts her days with a swim at the swimming pool in St. Germain. The fashion designer told Harpers Bazaar “I need this to breathe and to handle my stressful days. It’s a pool from the beginning of the last century. I love that you get your own cabine, so you don’t have to go into a locker room. I wear an Adidas one-piece, and I often use small fins and do about 35 laps.” Marant then stops off at a juice bar for a carrot and ginger juice before arriving at the office to start her day as one of the world’s most renowned boss ladies with style.

#4 – Gwynneth Paltrow
The first thing the GOOP CEO does when she wakes up is sip on some hot water and lemon before spending her morning to getting the kids dressed, fed, and ready for school. After that, Paltrow devotes two hours of her day, from 10am to 12pm, in classy activewear to exercise. She then commits to a beauty regime filled with ultra-hydrating beauty creams, to keep her looking effortlessly flawless.

#4 – Victoria Beckham
Victoria’s day starts promptly at 6:15am when she rises to optimise her time before waking her four children at 7am. As one of the world’s most successful women, with an empire built around stylish winter work outfits, winter coats, and wide leg pants, it’s no surprise that Beckham uses that half an hour to simultaneously shower and to answer emails that have come in overnight.

#6 – Iman
The 60 year old model starts her day at 6am with a double espresso/macchiato and a read through Daily Reflections, before a breakfast of a protein shake or green juice. At 8am Iman drops her daughter to school before hitting the gym, changing it up between yoga, cardio and weights each day.

#7 – Lara Worthington
Worthington told Vogue recently that she rises an hour or two before her son to check emails, shower and catch up on work. As when he wake she drops everything to be 100% present for him. Organising her chaos with “the little The Daily Edited notebook that I write everything in to keep track, so I don’t forget.”

#8 – Jodhi Meares
As one of the Australian fashion industry’s most successful women – Jodhi Meares (creator of The Upside) has a busy schedule, just as you’d expect. She likes to start her day early, at 5am, and like Paltrow, swears by the alkalising effects of warm water and lemon which she drinks as soon as she wakes. The fitness advocate then walks for almost an hour to her morning yoga class in North Bondi.
#9 – Alexa Chung
For this British fashion icon there is no 5am start, no green juice in sight. Alexa keeps it real, rising around 9am to begin the process of figuring out just which city she is in today before pulling together an outfit and grabbing coffee, then, as she puts it, “the paparazzi walk me to ballet class.”
