A trend that has popped up a lot on runways at home and internationally in the past year is the use of perspex. Designers like Stella McCartney and Christian Louboutin are adding this delicate material to their shoes – which are making women fall head over heels (pun intended).
I love this trend because it reminds me of Cinderella’s glass slipper…only more modern and with a lot more style. The beauty of perspex is its versatility, lending itself to whatever wonderful ideas the designers have come up with – everything from vibrant to classy, to whimsical. My personal favourites are the Jeffrey Campbell designs – the Float Heel is definitely one stylish illusion, making it look like you are walking on your tiptoes.
There is so much flexibility when pairing these shoes with pieces from your wardrobe. They make you look sexy, smart, conservative and fashionable all at the same time. While it might take a while for some of us to adjust to this trend, it’s definitely one that is making its mark in the fashion world.

The perspex heels look great I reckon, not a fan of the plastic as part of the shoe itself though. All I see are sweaty feet!
