Ever since my teens I’ve been in constant battle with my skin. It gets red, dry, peels, cracks, and itches. Then winter comes around (which is where healthy skin goes to die) and I tend to approach it with a “this means war” mentality. Slathering on handfuls and handfuls of moisturiser, foundation and anything I can get my hands on.
But last winter, I finally realised that maybe instead of engaging in open combat with my skin, I should show it some lovin’. So after much experimenting I’ve found a few amazing products that are perfect for my sensitive skin.
Even if you’re tough as nails, it’s worth having a look at these products because when it comes to the chilly season, even the most resilient complexion can turn into a barren wasteland.
1. Day face cream: “Simple” Hydrating Light Moisturiser 125ml, $9.99
This light moisturiser is part of Simple’s “Kind to Skin” range. This means it has no perfume, no colour and no harsh chemicals. It’s great for skin that’s easily irritated and isn’t too oily, meaning it sits well under your foundation without causing all your makeup to slide off. Added bonus: it’s SPF 15+ and you can buy it here.
2. Night face cream: “QV” Face Nurturing Night Cream 50g, $18.99
QV’s night face cream honestly feels like velvet . It’s perfect for sensitive skin, absorbed quickly, and leaves your face feeling fresh and luxuriously smooth. It’s also colour and fragrance free, and you can get it right here.
3. Body moisturiser: “Sorbolene” Moisturiser With Vitamin E 1L, $7.95
It’s amazing how the most basic (and cheap!) products can be one of the best. My GP once told me that sorbolene has the perfect pH level for your skin, so not only is it a fantastic moisturiser, it can also be used in the shower instead of a body wash or soap. Grab it here.
4. Foundation: “Innoxa” Satin Sheen SPF 30+, $28.95
Foundation is a tricky thing. Matte makeup can cause already dry skin to look scaly and flaky, while some liquid foundations make oily skin look, well, even oilier. But alas, I give you your happy medium. Innoxa Satin Sheen is fragrance free and has been dermatologically tested. To me, this foundation feels like a tinted moisturiser, looks like a matte foundation, and leaves you with a healthy (not oily) glow. To try its velvety goodness go here.
Do you have sensitive skin? What do you use?

I use creams from shisheido, and I find they are really helpful to my dry skin when it comes to winter or even summer. But also creams from your local pharmacies or supermarkets like nivea, l’oreal and dove are even really effective as well.
Dermalogica would be my favourite brand of skincare, great for sensitive skin. MooGoo is amazing too!
This is perfect for me
Great Article… I to have dry sensitive skin…I use Redwin It’s great…
I love the ‘Simple’ products – my eyes are sensitive but this product is the least irritating.
I suffer from sensitive skin too sadly. The Innoxa foundation sounds like something I should try out
Love the ‘Simple’ brand
Not really sensitive but my pores tend to clog up easily and cause blemishes very easily so I suppose my skin can be sensitive to pore-clogging ingredients.
i love tips on how to stay beautiful and hydrated during winter, i lived by them when i was in living France for winter and it just pepped me up and left me really moisturised. it’s so easy to dry out and forget to look after your skin
I use Cetaphil moisturising lotion for the body too as well as 1 & 2.
Thanks. I have always used Cetaphil as a cleanser.
i have the simple one 🙂
Great prodz!
Sorbolene is great as a soap-free wash for those of us with sensitive winter skin.
I use Sorbolene!
Great list! My skin definitely suffers a lot during winter
Innoxa! You’re a Winner in my Beauty Books!
Oh yes, not only do I have very sensitive skin but my scalpis too! I use the QV gentle face wash, the QV day cream with SPF 30 and also the QV night cream. I’ve tried sooooooo many products over the years, but now that I’ve found QV I don’t need to keep searching as this is the perfect skincare routine for me.
As for my scalp, I was lucky enough to stumble across a brand called MooGoo, they are an Australian company that has milk based products. So again, now that I’ve found the MooGoo shampoo and conditioner I’m sticking to them! Oh and I just love their Edible Tingling Lip Balm too! 😉
I totes agree with the scalp being affected with the change of season. Oh the joys of being a woman.
thanks for this great list!
