When Pantone names Emerald Green as the Color of the Year for 2013, it signals time to stand up and take all hues of the green family seriously.
Having just seen a huge array of green dresses on the Grammy’s red carpet, we thought it is high time to see just how we can incorporate shades of greens into our homes and living spaces.
Green is often used in decorating for its calming effect on us. For example, guests waiting to appear on television programs often wait in a “green room” to relax. The psychology behind this is unclear but researches theorize it may be because we associate green with nature.

Love the green look!!
So creative
This is such a vibrant colour and it looks awesome.
Love the colour
Green symbolises life so they say. I’ve recently also purchased a little green blender which is cute in the kitchen.
I love the zigzag stripe on the drawers!
Luuuurve emerald green. So soothing.
Love the colour just not for my home
It totally makes a great deal of sense, when one thinks about it, that the colour green in general would have a calming effect.
When I put my imagination to the test, the first things that come to my mind when the colour green is mentioned are crystal clear pools of water, and trees and nature-related flora.
Both of these immediate images that come to my mind are extremely relaxing to me.
However, another point of view that has been drawn to my attention when discussing this subject with friends, is that the colour green is the primary and unquestionable colour associated with greed and envy. Both these emotions are as far from relaxing as one can get, in fact both are very stressful.
It begs the age-old question as to if the glass is half full or half empty. It depends on one’s point of view.
I want that glasshouse candle!
Wow…soothing.
Love Emerald Green
If you are feeling stressed you only have to look at a tree or green grass and you start to feel relaxed.
